Retail businesses that need a convenient way to ring up customer purchases and store and dispense money, such as grocery stores, banks and general retail stores, will often purchase a cash drawer. Cash drawers are made by a variety of different manufacturers in a wide range of styles and models. Manual cash drawers are usually the least expensive models and can usually be operated with a key or push button. More expensive models may include custom interfaces with POS (point of sale) software and other peripheral hardware. Different models of cash drawers may have different configurations of compartments and money slots, depending on the needs of the customer.
